About “Otsumami”
Otsumami is a Japanese word that refers to small dishes often served alongside drinks — simple, satisfying bites meant to be shared, savored slowly, and enjoyed with good company. But beyond that, otsumami reflects a style of eating that is thoughtful, seasonal, and rooted in everyday life.
This newsletter is my way of sharing that spirit.
The purpose is simple: I want to help more Japanese dishes find their way to your table, wherever in the world you are.
Here, you’ll find casual recipes, introductions to Japanese seasonings, tips for cooking with what you have, and a gentle rhythm of seasonal food stories — all drawn from real daily life. I also share photographs that celebrate the quiet beauty of each dish and moment.
